Brief Biography

Dr. Doxa Kotzia is a Pediatrician and Pediatric Pulmonologist (fully trained in the UK), holder of a PhD from the Athens Medical School, Director of the Pediatric Pulmonology Department and Sleep Laboratory at IASO Children's Hospital, former Director of the Pediatric Pulmonology Department at Cambridge University Hospital, and collaborator at the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, the Neonatal Intensive Care Units, and the 1st University Pediatric Clinic at "Agia Sofia" Children's Hospital.

She graduated from the Athens Medical School and completed her specialty training in Pediatrics at the 3rd University Pediatric Clinic at "Attikon" Hospital.

She trained in Pediatric Pulmonology in the UK, working in salaried fellowship positions at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital (a world-renowned center of reference for pediatric pulmonology) and at Great Ormond Street Hospital (the largest quaternary referral hospital in the UK and Europe) in London.

She has worked in all areas of pediatric pulmonology patient care, with additional specialization in cystic fibrosis, long-term non-invasive ventilation, sleep medicine, lung transplantation, congenital airway anomalies, neuromuscular/neurological patients, cardiac patients, and case management in the NICU, PICU, and cardiac surgery unit.

She served as a Full-Time Consultant in Pediatric Pulmonology, specializing in long-term non-invasive ventilation and sleep medicine, at Cambridge University Hospital in the UK. She also served as an Honorary Consultant in Pediatric Pulmonology at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Additionally, she holds a PhD from the Athens Medical School and two master's degrees (MSc from the Athens Medical School and MPH from the National School of Public Health, with specialization in infectious diseases). She served as an Academic Fellow in Pediatric Pulmonology at the 1st University Pediatric Clinic at "Agia Sofia" Children's Hospital.

Dr. Kotzia has a rich publication and research record, with significant distinctions in her career and a strong presence at international and domestic conferences. She is a reviewer for international scientific journals, with particular interest in leadership, management, and quality improvement projects, and systematic involvement in the training of junior colleagues.

It is noteworthy that she holds the honorary title of Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), UK.

She is a member of the board of the Hellenic Pediatric Pulmonology Society and the Hellenic Academy of Pediatrics.

She is also a member of international medical societies, including the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the British Paediatric Respiratory Society (BPRS).
